Freya attended a dance competition last Friday (6th May) and we thought you might like to know how she and her team mates got on that weekend. (Freya's Mum & Dad)
We travelled to Logan Hall at London University for Freya to take part in Starpower which was an international competition with entrants from across the globe including Australia, the USA, Russia and several European countries as well as lots of UK dance schools including Freya's own school - Steppin' Out Academy of Performance.
We are incredibly proud to say that Freya got 1st place for both of her solo dances, one with 4 and 3/4 stars (out of 5) - in the jazz category, and the other with a maximum 5 stars, in the lyrical category.
She also got a "High Score" award for getting 6th highest score overall in her age group across all dance categories, (out of nearly 70 children in total).
Then, in her group dance, together with the rest of the Junior Elite Team they again got 1st place in their category (lyrical) with 5 stars and achieved the 2nd overall highest score for all the group dances in their age group.
And if all that wasn't fantastic enough, the Junior Elite Team were also awarded a "Golden Ticket" to compete in the world championships being held this August in The Meadowlands, USA! We are hoping (optimistically!) to find a generous sponsor to get them over there and make this dream become a reality for the girls!
You will notice that the trophies she brings in are missing the golden "angel toppers", this is because, rather embarrassingly for the competition organisers, these were unfortunately held up in customs when coming into the country from America (oops!), but we hope the toppers will arrive in the next week or so. In the meantime the children were presented with the trophy bases, star badges and high score award plaques (which luckily did make it through) and were allowed to take photos with replica trophies so that they have something to show their friends and families. When Freya's trophies are complete they will be identical to the ones in the photograph.
